New year, new features

You know what they say about 2022: When you say it out loud, it’s “2020, too.” Ugh.

Not for Stoke, though. Back in 2020, we were just getting started, and we’ve been on a roll ever since: more growth, more features, more users like you...

So, 2020, too? Not over here.

Here are some highlights of what’s new in Stoke (and, as always, stay tuned because more is coming):

More flexibility when starting or posting a job

We’ve added a lot more flexibility when it comes to starting jobs: you can now set one-time, custom, or pay-as-you-go milestones and custom define how long a milestone should repeat for. We’ve also added an advance payment option.

We reorganized the requirements for posting a job (i.e., sourcing talent), so they’re all in one place. You can now indicate which skills are “musts” and which are “nice to have,” and we’ve given you more flexibility if you’re not sure what type of time frame and payment structure you’re looking for.

Start job (i.e., assign job)

We’ve made some additions and improvements to give you more flexibility when starting a new job:

  • More milestone frequency options
You can now choose between one-time (for a one-off project or task), custom, and pay as you go (with milestones added as the talent completes tasks and requests payment).

  • Custom repetition for milestones
You’re no longer limited to our predefined number of repetitions of a milestone. You can now set “repeat for [a certain number of weeks/months]” by typing a number freely.

  • View all your milestones and edit as needed
Once you’ve defined the number of repetitions for your milestone, click View & edit to see them all and make any edits you need to.

  • Advance payment
When you’re setting up milestones, you can now choose to add an advance payment, such as for a deposit or a portion of the work before the job is done.

Need a refresher on how to start a job? You can always check “Learn more about starting a job” on the right-hand side to see it all step by step.

Post job (i.e., source talent)

We know how it is—when you’re looking for talent, you usually need someone… well, yesterday, so we’ve streamlined the process of posting a job so you can get right to it:

  • More organized
We reorganized the job posting flow, so all the requirements are in one place rather than scattered across different steps. To save you time, we now preselect the common options for you—but you can, of course, always change them.

  • Musts vs. nice to have
When posting a job, top skills are now separated into “must have” and “nice to have,” so we can help you zero in on the right talent.

💡 Pro tip: To add skills, just type them and hit Enter, or select them from our list of suggestions.

  • Flexible engagement type
Not sure how long you want the job to go for or whether you want to pay an hourly rate or a fixed price? We’ve added a “not sure” option for both the time frame and the payment type to give you more flexibility.

Add a talent without inviting them to Stoke

Have a new (or old) talent, but no job for them yet? Add them to Stoke without inviting them to sign up so you have all their details in one place and ready to go when a job does arise.

Want to add the talent and give them a heads up about it? You can add them and then copy the invite link to send it to them in a custom email or message, rather than having the invite go out through Stoke.

Work smarter and save time with Workflows (beta)

Find yourself doing a lot of the same things over and over again when it comes to working with talents? Workflows are here for you! Workflows are automations that you set up and customize to take care of repeat tasks and processes and eliminate manual work (and human error!).

For each workflow you’ll define a trigger and the subsequent action(s). For example, you can use a workflow to automatically include custom fields (e.g., system Access) when you add or invite a new talent to Stoke or to send out a custom email to the talent or certain people at your company.

To learn more about workflows and how you can use them to save time, contact us at [email protected] and a member of our team will be in touch.

Archive workspaces

Dormant workspace? Archive it to keep your Stoke account tidy. Archived workspaces will no longer appear in Stoke, but don’t worry—they’re not gone forever. You can run reports on them or restore them at any time if things wake up again.
